Adrien Rabiot did not close any doors when discussing his future with Juventus, making clear his desire for a ‘sporting challenge’.
The 27-year-old Frenchman has grown into one of the most important players in Massimiliano Allegri’s squad this season, contributing heavily to the attack and dictating the pace of play from the midfield.
With less than six months left on his contract, Juventus have been keen to tie him down to a new deal, but Rabiot is seemingly edging closer to leaving on a free transfer in the summer.
Speaking to Le Figaro, Rabiot was first asked about his future and if he’ll stay with Juventus.
“I’ll be honest, I know nothing about it. As a man I like to travel, to discover other cultures and in Italy I’m very happy, it’s a country I like. But then I leave every option open, and we’ll see what happens in a few months.
“I like discovering new things, but football and the sporting challenge remain the most important elements of my choice.”
The Frenchman suggested that a return to Paris Saint-Germain was extremely unlikely.
“Although nothing must be ruled out, PSG has been a page in my career, I have been in Italy for four years, I have now moved on to something else and everything is going well both on the pitch and in my personal life.”
Finally, Rabiot discussed his role in the France national team.
“I am a leader on the pitch and I don’t have a problem with taking on big responsibilities. You can be in the dressing room without necessarily having the captain’s armband. The coach has decided that Mbappe will be captain and that’s fine.”
This season, Rabiot has scored nine goals and provided four assists in 33 appearances across all competitions, his most productive season in Turin since his arrival in 2019.
