‘Pure poetry’ from Bellingham in Real Madrid win over Napoli

Nothing but high praise from the Italian press for Jude Bellingham, who played a leading role in Real Madrid’s Champions League win away to Napoli.

The 20-year-old Englishman joined Los Blancos in the summer from Borussia Dortmund in a high-profile deal worth over €100m. He has immediately hit the ground running in Spain, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in his first nine games across all competitions.

Bellingham continued to shine in Real Madrid’s trip to Napoli, providing the assist for Vinicius Junior’s equaliser before scoring an incredible solo goal seven minutes later.

La Gazzetta dello Sport were majorly impressed by Bellingham’s work in the win over Napoli, highlighting how he posed such a threat in the Campania capital, writing: “Sublime, he is so strong that when he drops back, he is even scarier because of his ability to accelerate and leave everyone in place.”

Corriere dello Sport had even higher praise for the 20-year-old, claiming he’s already one of the top players in his position, commenting: “A mere 20-year-old phenomenon, but it was already known. The assist to Vinicius after the steal on the three-quarter line, the goal with an extraordinary run, totally dominant in the first half, deeper in the second half.

“He is not a predestined player, because he is already one of the best in the world.”

Tuttosport couldn’t disagree with their counterparts, continuing to layer the praise on Bellingham, saying: “What he shows in the 34th minute is pure poetry, 30 metres of flight at 100 miles per hour and, two steps inside the area, a splendid shot that leaves Meret no chance.”
