PSG coach Galtier: ‘Many offers for Paredes, different for Icardi’

Christophe Galtier underlined that Juventus are facing competition for Leandro Paredes, but that things are significantly quieter for Mauro Icardi.

The Bianconeri have been waiting to pick up the Argentinian midfielder for a little while now but first they have to make space in their squad. Juventus have been waiting for Arthur Melo depart, likely to Valencia, and once this is done they’ll push to sign Paredes.

Icardi has been tentatively linked with a return to Serie A this summer, with Monza and Sampdoria both seemingly keen. The former decided to pick up Napoli’s Andrea Petagna instead and the latter’s interest hinges of the completion of a takeover.

Speaking in a press conference, Galtier provided an update on the situations of Paredes and Icardi.

“The situation of Paredes is very different from that of Mauro Icardi. Leandro has many offers and I don’t know what will happen between now and the end of the transfer market.

“I know he wants to play, but he has a calm state of mind.”

PSG want around €25m for Paredes and Juventus’ latest offer reportedly sits around €15m including add-ons, meaning further talks are still needed to agree a deal. The Argentinian midfielder has already agreed personal terms with the Turin side.

It’s tougher to predict what’ll happen to Icardi; Monza’s interest has entirely dissipated and a move from Sampdoria seems incredibly unlikely, suggesting that a return to Serie A is no longer on the cards.
