Paris Saint-Germain are ready to take advantage after Napoli refused to pay €42m for James Rodriguez, as his ex-wife warns it depends on Real Madrid.

The Colombia international wants to reunite with Carlo Ancelotti at the Stadio San Paolo, having worked with him in Madrid and at Bayern Munich.

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis reiterated on Friday that he has no intention of paying the asking price and is still urging Real Madrid to let James go out on loan with option to buy.

According to Le10Sport in France, PSG are watching the situation and are ready to swoop, especially as Real Madrid would rather sell him there than risk him reinforcing direct rivals Atletico Madrid.

“From what I know, there are three or four clubs who want him,” Daniela Ospina – James Rodriguez’s ex-wife – told Caracol Radio.

“Often, unfortunately, transfers don’t depend on players. A player can express his opinion, but then there are economic issues to be respected.

“Negotiations with Real are not easy, as they want a lot of money in just one payment. All this is really causing problems in the process. Regardless of what the player wants, the final solution might be dictated by financial considerations.”
