Fiorentina director of sport Daniele Pradè blasted his players after a 3-1 defeat to Sassuolo. ‘People talk about value on the transfer market, but they’ve got to prove it on the pitch.’
The Viola are still without a win since the lockdown and were humiliated on home turf by Sassuolo this evening.
“It’s a step backwards, but ultimately the situations make the difference. We basically did everything, as we made the mistakes in attack and defence,” Pradè told Sky Sport Italia.
“I am angry, because we have to do more. We must do more. This team has talent, but talent is not enough. You need more determination, more grit, heart, to show hunger and fight for every ball.
“Instead, we conceded two goals on counter-attacks from our own corners, I saw players who didn’t give their all. People keep talking about our players being so valuable on the transfer market, but they’ve got to prove it on the pitch, not in the newspapers. Show what you’ve got.
“With the situation as it is now, we’ve got to spit blood and be humble just to secure safety, then we’ll see about the future.”
President Rocco Commisso already spoke to Pradè after this defeat and the message was not reassuring either.
“Of course he’s very disappointed, as he didn’t expect a season like this. We knew it would be a year of growth, to help the younger players mature, and the lockdown certainly didn’t help, but today was too much. The team has to be determined to get points in Serie A and today that was sorely lacking.”
