Paul Pogba took to Instagram to post a strong message of support for Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior after the Brazilian international was subjected to vile racist abuse during Los Blancos’ recent 1-0 loss to Valencia in LaLiga.
The 22-year-old was shown the first red card of his career seven minutes into injury time on Sunday afternoon after raising his hands to the face of Valencia’s Hugo Duro shortly after being involved with an altercation with a selection of Valencia supporters in the stands, accusing them of racial abuse.
This is not the first time that Vini Jr. has been victim of racial abuse from the stands this season, however, despite impending investigations from LaLiga, the Brazilian is facing a three-game ban for his actions, whilst the supporters, so far, have gone unpunished.
Juventus’ Pogba has not taken the situation lightly, and has posted a long message to his 58.3m followers on Instagram, where he accused “the institutions” of not wanting to find a real solution to racial abuse.
Along with a photo of Vini Jr., Pogba posted: “Who protects us?It’s not the first time, it won’t be the last either. But we must never let that pass again. We have so many examples and I think we all agree today that nothing has changed since then.
“Bananas, animal noises, songs against us? It’s mental illness and I think we all agree that neither ads nor slogans will change these people. If I’ve learned one thing this year, it’s that when someone has a black heart, nothing and no one can change that.
“If the institutions don’t want to find a real solution, let’s try to do it by ourselves, for ourselves. Full support bro.”
