Pjanic: Critics don’t know Spurs…

Miralem Pjanic has accused critics of being too harsh on Juventus after their draw with Tottenham Hotspur as “maybe they didn’t know” the English side.

Juve threw away a 2-0 lead against Tottenham to draw 2-2 in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, but Pjanic suggested the scrutiny faced by the Bianconeri was unfair on their opponents.

“Criticism too heavy? Yes, it was excessive because we were facing Tottenham, who are a great team from the midfield up,” he told Premium Sport.

“They suffered at the back, but they’re still a quality team, so maybe those who criticised us didn’t know Tottenham.

“After we went 2-0 up, we had to manage the game better, but [the tie] isn’t over, we believe in ourselves and obviously we want to go through.”
