Bologna boss Stefano Pioli hopes he’ll be able to count on Alessandro Diamanti and Gaston Ramirez next season.

The Italian’s future will have to be discussed with Brescia who co-own him, while the Uruguayan is of interest to numerous clubs in and outside of Italy.

“Both of them have had great seasons,” the former Chievo and Palermo tactician stated following the win at Catania in midweek.

“They are two great players and I hope that I’ll be able to work with them for some time to come.”

Pioli has used a Christmas Tree formation at times by fielding the pair behind centre-forward Marco Di Vaio.

“I’m obliged to play both of them given their qualities,” Pioli added. “They can play anywhere and they are an added bonus.

“I consider Gaston to be a second striker, but he can easily play as a trequartista behind two strikers if necessary.”
