Stefano Pioli said he has never been more of a Milan fan than after winning the Scudetto and is eager to defend the title.
The Rossoneri are the 13th club Pioli, who had a picture of the Scudetto tattooed on his arm, has managed but the Italian coach said he is has never enjoyed a break as much as this and is now completely in love with the club.
He told Gazzetta dello Sport: “[it has been] A dream holiday. Without doubt the best of my life. I have never been a bigger Milan fan.”
And Pioli assured fans he is not looking to rest on his laurels and is determined for this Scudetto success to the starting point rather than the end.
He added: “I can’t wait to go back and defend the title. I already miss my players.”
Pioli had been considered somewhat of a journeyman manager before his arrival at Milan. Hi appointment, following the dismissal of Marco Giampaolo in October 2019, was met with a negative reaction among many Rossoneri supporters and was initially seen as temporary.
However, he oversaw and incredible revival following the coronavirus-enforced break in 2020 which saw them become the form-side in Serie A when football returned.
The following campaign they mounted a title challenge and returned to the Champions League before winning the Scudetto in the next season.
