Premier League side Chelsea made sure to be good hosts to Inter during their pre-season friendly on Sunday, presenting Nerazzurri legend and vice-President Javier Zanetti with a cake to celebrate his birthday.
The 145-time Argentina international turned 51 over the weekend, when Inter were in London for their final pre-season runout of the summer.
“Thanks Chelsea, and to everybody who continues to wish me a happy birthday,” the Nerazzurri legend wrote on Instagram after being surprised with a small gift during the Chelsea trip.
The team were eventually held to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge after a last-minute Lesley Ugochukwu equaliser cancelled out Marcus Thuram’s 26th minute opener.
Still, it was a special day for Zanetti, also travelled to West London with Simone Inzaghi and the rest of the coaching staff. Club President Beppe Marotta was also in town to exchange ceremonial gifts with his Chelsea counterparts.
