“I don’t want to remain, so I am leaving after the game with Roma,” Petrescu is reported to have said.

“I want a break, I can’t take it anymore. It’s not just about the referees. Someone else will arrive, I need a rest. I can’t train here anymore, what more can I do?”

The 52-year-old is in his second career spell with Cluj, having already led them in the 2017-18 season.

He returned in March 2019 and had started this Europa League campaign brightly, winning 2-0 away to CSKA Sofia and drawing 1-1 with Young Boys.
