Roma’s season started brightly, but since the turn of the year the club have struggled.
Il Corriere dello Sport believes that Petrachi will leave the club at the end of the season, if not sooner.
The Rome daily suggests that Petrachi’s days were numbered during the 4-2 defeat to Sassuolo, when he supposedly entered the locker room in a fit of rage at half time.
Another strike against the former Torino director is his inability to move on players with high wage bills, namely Javier Pastore, Diego Perotti and Juan Jesus.
The trio earn an estimated €10m in wages combined, and without having Champions League football to call upon this season, money needed to be saved.
However Petrachi failed to offload any of the aforementioned players.
Il Corriere states that Parma director of sport Daniele Faggiano is amongst the favourites for the job, along with Atletico Madrid’s Andrea Berta.
The Roman paper even suggests that Petrachi could be let go before the season ends, if they find a suitable replacement.
