Petkovic: ‘Lazio must improve away’

Vladimir Petkovic praised Miroslav Klose after the victory over Inter, but warned Lazio must now start improving their away record.

The Biancocelesti moved into joint third place with tonight’s 1-0 win at the Stadio Olimpico, just one point shy of the Nerazzurri.

“If we always give 100 per cent, then we can play like this every week. We saw a good team that only suffered under pressure for about 10-15 minutes in the second half,” said the Coach.

“We played intelligent football that allowed us to create many chances. I saw that Inter had strong midfielders, so used a simple 4-4-1-1 to be more balanced and dangerous in that area.”

Klose scored the winner, but had also missed an absolute sitter only minutes earlier.

“I always say that the team works for Klose just as he works for the team by scoring goals. He is a great champion and puts his qualities at the disposal of the squad.

“It’s true he missed a great chance, but these things can happen, just as Inter hit the upright twice tonight.”

Lazio have won seven, drawn one and lost one at home this season, but Petkovic still isn’t content.

“Now we must learn how to play like this outside the Olimpico too.”
