Salernitana have not yet finished their January spending spree, as Diego Perotti confirms he is joining them. ‘I didn’t need convincing.’
The Argentine is a free agent after his experience with Fenerbahce, as his contract with the Turkish side expired over the summer.
Now 33, the striker spent most of his career in Italy with Genoa and Roma.
“I am in good shape physically, I am ready to give 100 per cent for this team,” Perotti told Sky Sport Italia.
“It is a dream for me to play and share a locker room with a player like Franck Ribery. I think we have the potential to achieve something extraordinary.”
This is a reunion for Perotti with former Roma director of sport Walter Sabatini, who has transformed Salernitana since taking over in January.
“Sabatini didn’t have to convince me. I was training by myself and just waiting for the opportunity to get back on the pitch.”
Perotti played 149 Serie A appearances in his career, scoring 31 goals and providing 28 assists.
He also had 116 La Liga matches for Sevilla, while he found the net three times in his only four Fenerbahce games.
This is also a reunion with former Roma defender Federico Fazio.
Among the other players Salernitana signed in January are Ederson from Corinthians, Mikael from Recife, CSKA Moscow midfielder Emil Bohinen, Genoa midfielder Ivan Radovanovic, Torino forward Simone Verdi, Sheffield United striker Lys Mousset and Juventus-owned defender Radu Dragusin.
