Diego Perotti knows second place is difficult for Roma, but “if Napoli make a misstep we have to be ready”.
The Giallorossi are just two points behind Maurizio Sarri’s side, but there are only three games remaining in the Serie A season.
“They still have two points more than us,” Perotti pointed out to Roma Match Programme.
“Unfortunately at this point in the season it’s not just down to us, they have to slip-up along the way and we can’t make any mistakes.

“Unfortunately at this point in the season it’s not just down to us, they have to slip-up along the way and we can’t make any mistakes.
“There are three games to go, our task is to get nine points and wait for them to slip-up.
“It definitely won’t be easy, but if they make a misstep we have to be there, ready.”
The Lupi face Perotti’s former team Genoa on Monday, and the winger is looking forward to facing the Grifone.
“It won’t be easy, they’ve shown throughout the season – and I experienced it partially myself – that they’re strong at home thanks to the support of the fans.
“They played very well against Inter and won, they’re a team who will always give 110 per cent and cause you problems.
“They have so many good players, but I think the two who are a step above are [Cristian] Ansaldi and [Tomas] Rincon. They’re the reference points of the team, in defence and attack.
“Then there’s [Leonardo] Pavoletti who can easily find a goal. It will be a good game, but not an easy one.
“I’m coming home, it’s the club that raised me in football. I arrived in a very difficult period of my career and Genoa helped me a lot.
“The first year was a great season, and the first six months of this season weren’t bad. Returning to Genoa, the city where my son was born, will be very emotional.
“For me, it’s a different game to all the others.
“I have to be honest, I’m in touch with a lot of my former teammates, just yesterday I talked to some of them.
“It really will be a thrill for me.”
Finally, the Argentine discussed his short time at Roma.
“The call of Roma was a very important chance,” Perotti explained.
“It was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up, and I’ve given everything to do well. Maybe I wasn’t expecting to play so many games, I’ve played in all-but-one.
“I’m very glad I’ve been able to help the team in recent months.
“It’s a top team, a club that played in the Champions League against Real Madrid just a few days after I arrived.
“It had been five years since I’d played in the Champions League, the last time was with Sevilla, and now we’re fighting for second in the League.
“If I look back to how I was two years ago, and now I’m training at Trigoria every day… I never would have imagined it.
“I can’t stop now, I have to give 100 per cent and live up to what’s expected of me.”
