Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi has said that ‘we will have to wait and see’ about a decision over the sale of Teun Koopmeiners, but has promised that whatever decision is made will be for the good of the club’.
The Atalanta director spoke to DAZN before kick-off against Torino on Sunday evening.
Percassi on Atalanta business and strong start to the season
Percassi said that you can never rule out the possibility of Atalanta making new signings, particularly with the close of the transfer window approaching.
He claims that the club have had to be ‘vigilant’ with their business this summer, but is pleased with the start the team made on the pitch, securing a 4-0 victory over Lecce in the opening round of Serie A fixtures last weekend.
“We’ve started well, It was a great match in Lecce, but we have a lot to improve on. Today will be another difficult match, and we’ll have to start from scratch. The goal, of course, is to do well,” Percassi told DAZN before kick-off against Torino.
Discussing Atalanta’s transfer market activity, Percassi added: “If there are opportunities to strengthen ourselves, we will certainly seize them. We have been vigilant.”
Atalanta are expected to add two new faces to the squad at the beginning of next week, as the club have booked medicals for free agents Juan Cuadrado and Rui Patricio. They are expected to be La Dea’s ninth and tenth signings of the summer.
What Percassi said about Koopmeiners’s move to Juventus
Percassi added that the situation surrounding Koopmeiners was ‘unexpected’ for the club. He hinted that a final decision has not yet been made in regards to a move to Juventus.
“The club’s goal was to retain all of our important players from last season. This summer we have been forced to manage unexpected situations, which we are very sorry about.
“We will see in the next few days, whatever decision will be made will be for the good of the club.“
