Pellegrini: ‘Yaya Toure stays’

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini reiterated Yaya Toure will not join Inter. “He’s very happy here.”

The transfer saga has already been dragging on for weeks, as the Nerazzurri continue to publicly state their intention to sign him.

“When you ask me around one month ago I always say that Yaya is very happy here,” said Pellegrini.

“That he doesn’t have any intention to go to another club. Maybe his agent is talking about other things, but the reality is that he will stay here with us.

“I am always talking with all the players. That is why I said that Yaya will stay here because I know the way he thinks.”

Toure still has two years left on his contract and by all accounts Inter are not prepared to pay a transfer fee for the 32-year-old.

They wanted him to force Manchester City’s hand, terminate by mutual consent and then move to San Siro on a vastly reduced wage.

“The fans hope Yaya Toure arrives? So do I!” commented Coach Roberto Mancini at the presentation of the 2015-16 kit last night.

Former President Massimo Moratti also assured the Inter hierarchy was “confident” of completing the deal.

It is reported in today’s papers that Inter are irritated by Yaya Toure refusing to burn down bridges with Manchester City, so will move towards other targets.
