Lorenzo Pellegrini said Roma want to “continue improving, enjoying our football and controlling games” after a 4-1 victory away to Fiorentina.
The midfielder contributed both a goal and assist at the Stadio Franchi, with Edin Dzeko, Nicolò Zaniolo and Aleksandar Kolarov also on target.
“We work on possession and dominating games. A great team must concentrate and find a way to win. Fiorentina got back into it, but we did well and were also fortunate to score a third goal, as that made it easier,” he told Sky Sport Italia and Roma TV.
“We knew that we couldn’t underestimate this match and we always want to do better, which makes us a team that can achieve even the impossible. That doesn’t mean we’ll win silverware, but we’ll certainly give it our all.”
Pellegrini provided an inspired pass for Zaniolo to volley it across on the Dzeko opener.
“I played with instinct. I was going to shoot, but then I saw the defenders had all clammed up around me, I spotted Zaniolo’s run and decided to spread it. We work on that in training too.
“I am pleased this is my first Serie A goal of the season. I had found the net before, they took it away because of the deflection, but that’s fine, I was not upset.
“What we want to do now is to continue improving, enjoying our football and controlling the games. If we play this way, we can cause problems for any opponent. We can reach the end of the season with no regrets.”
