Pecchia: ‘Verona lose faith easily’

Coach Fabio Pecchia wants Hellas Verona to “not lose heart once going behind” after a 3-0 home defeat to Lazio.

“Talking about the Lazio injury crisis and not ours is unfair. We had a good performance on Wednesday and held out well, but after the penalty the shadows of the past came back over us and we lost confidence,” Pecchia told Mediaset Premium.

“Talking about the Lazio injury crisis and not ours is unfair. We had a good performance on Wednesday and held out well, but after the penalty the shadows of the past came back over us and we lost confidence,” Pecchia told Mediaset Premium.

There are inevitably rumours that the Bentegodi side is looking at other options for the role of tactician after a dismal start.

“I feel confidence from the club, I have faith in my team. The statistics are difficult to look at right now, but we have to keep going and improve. A defeat is a defeat, there’s no ‘good’ loss.

“Rumours of other Coaches hovering around my bench have been going for months, not just this week. We played our hearts out against Sampdoria and earned a point, so there’s no reason why we can’t do that again. We need the right attitude and not to lose heart once we go behind.

“Against Samp was the only game this season where we really created the impression we could hurt the opponent. Today we lacked the necessary aggression and determination, both attacking and defending.”
