Pasqual: ‘Empoli my last challenge’

Veteran Manuel Pasqual says “returning to Serie A with Empoli is one of my last objectives”, having been relegated in his first season.

The 35-year-old played over 350 matches for Fiorentina before joining their Tuscan rivals in the summer of 2016, but last season saw them relegated to Serie B.

“The relegation was hard to digest,” Pasqual confessed, speaking to calciomercato.com.

“The relegation was hard to digest,” Pasqual confessed, speaking to calciomercato.com.

“But speaking with the club a few days after the Palermo match I was asked to stay, which made me happy because I didn’t want to end my experience in blue with what happened last season.

“I had other offers but I decided to stay, convinced I made the right choice and the desire to do well.

“A return to Serie A? That’s the objective, there’s no point hiding it. The last games tell us we’re doing well, but we can’t let our guard down, we have to solely focus on the Ascoli game.

“As I’ve said on other occasions, returning to Serie A with Empoli is one of my last objectives, because I want to bring this club back to the division it deserves.”
