Paris Saint-Germain could hijack Tottenham’s proposed January move for forgotten Juventus man Amauri.

The striker will quit the Turin giants in the New Year after he was frozen out of the first team for refusing a summer sale.

His agent recently suggested that there was a 70 per cent chance that he would move to England after Christmas, but Paris SG have now entered the race.

According to reports in Italy, PSG officials spoke to Amauri’s entourage on Monday to discuss a possible switch to Ligue 1.

Amauri, whose €3.8m a season deal in Turin expires in June 2012, hasn’t played for the Bianconeri so far this season.

A host of other clubs last summer – such as Palermo and Napoli – showed an interest too, but no agreement could be reached over personal terms.

Parma, where he spent six months on loan last season, also wanted him but couldn’t afford his full wages either.
