“I’ve always kept in touch with De Rossi and he is so happy to be at Boca Juniors,” former Roma teammate Paredes told TyC Sports in Argentina.
“He told me that he can’t wait to start and would play on Sunday if he could. He’s crazy about the idea of wearing the Boca jersey. I’m not kidding, when he makes his debut, I want to be in the stands watching him.”
When Roma opted not to offer him a new contract, De Rossi had been tempted to retire, but was only convinced to keep going by the lifelong dream of playing at the Bombonera.
“From the first moment I arrived at Roma, Daniele was asking me about Boca,” continued Paris Saint-Germain star Paredes.
“He’s in love with the fans and the club. Every chance we got, we’d watch their games together. Playing here is a dream for him and he’s going to be so happy.
“He’s a complete midfielder and can play beautiful football, but when he needs to make his presence felt, he does that too. He’s the ideal profile that Boca were looking for.
“If he’s in good shape physically, I don’t think anything about football in Argentina can trouble him.”
