Daniel Maldini made his senior Italy debut in a game against Israel on Monday: here’s how his father reacted in the stands.

Daniel Maldini became the third member of his family to play for the Azzurri after his grandfather, Cesare, and his father, Paolo.

The former Azzurri and Milan defender was in the stands in Udine last night when his 23-year-old son, currently playing for Serie A side Monza, made his international debut in a 4-1 victory against Israel.

Italian TV spotted Paolo in the stands when his son was introduced as a substitute at minute 73.

The legendary defender looked serious and focused while his wife smiled and took a picture with her phone.

“It was a strong sensation, positive, I’m very happy to have come on and that the game went well,” Daniel Maldini said after the game last night.

“I am glad that my parents were here, I’ll talk to them after I get home. I dedicate this debut to my family and my friends, those who love me.”
