The Serie B outfit are expected to sell the midfielder after Christmas and numerous clubs are interested.

Although also paired with Juventus and Udinese, amongst others, the Viola are keen on netting the Italian international.

Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino is looking to strengthen a midfield which will lose Riccardo Montolivo.

The latter has refused to sign a contract extension in Tuscany which means he’ll leave in January for a nominal fee or at the end of the season on a Bosman.

Doria, now in the Second Division after relegation, have made it clear in recent weeks that they are prepared to listen to offers for Palombo.

The 30-year-old Palombo actually left Fiorentina for Sampdoria in the summer of 2002 after the Viola’s financial collapse.
