Angelo Palombo has refused to be drawn on whether Sampdoria should try to re-sign Antonio Cassano.

The latter has been linked with a possible move back to Marassi after his falling out with Inter boss Andrea Stramaccioni recently.

“Cassano? I don’t know,” the 31-year-old commented. “These are evaluations that need to be made by the club.

“The directors here will know what is in the best interests of Sampdoria.”

Cassano joined Doria in the summer of 2007 from Real Madrid, initially on loan until a permanent deal was done.

He left the club for Milan in January 2011 after a row with then-President Riccardo Garrone.

Cassano, born in 1982, scored 35 goals in 96 League games for the Marassi outfit.

He presently earns €2.7m a season at Inter and would thus have to accept a wage cut should he head back to Samp.
