Raffaele Palladino is reported to be in advanced negotiations with Fiorentina to take over next season, as his Monza contract expires on June 30.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Palladino was in Florence on Friday and had a meeting in person with the Viola directors to talk about plans for the new campaign.

He then had dinner with his agent in Florence to recap on the negotiations.

Palladino among Fiorentina candidates

Vincenzo Italiano has been expected to walk away for months and losing the third final in a row with the Conference League extra time defeat to Olympiacos only cemented his imminent departure.

Fiorentina have several candidates on their radar to replace Italiano, including Alberto Aquilani and Maurizio Sarri.

Palladino has also been linked with the jobs at Torino, Bologna and even Benfica, while he has not yet formally confirmed his departure from Monza.

The coach turned 40 in April and only retired as a player in 2019, taking charge first of the Monza youth team in 2021, then promoted to the senior squad in September 2022.
