Tomas Palacios has flown out from Buenos Aires and is preparing for his Inter medical, completing the transfer from Independiente Rivadavia for €6.5m plus add-ons for a total of up to €11m.
The 21-year-old was pictured with supporters and representatives at the airport in Buenos Aires, heading to Milan, where he will undergo a medical on Monday and sign a contract to June 2029.
There were some concerns that the deal might be at risk when offers from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig threatened to go higher than the Nerazzurri were prepared to pay.
However, the determination of the defender proved crucial and they also bumped up their proposal to ensure everyone was content.
According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the final agreement was sealed at €6.5m plus bonuses to reach a maximum total fee of €11m.
It was a complicated operation, as the Argentina Under-20 talent is technically co-owned by Independiente Rivadavia and his original club Talleres, so both had to be involved in the negotiations.
