Rodrigo Palacio says he was only one of numerous options to go in goal for Inter last night after injury to Luca Castellazzi.

Having already made all three of their substitutions in the 2-0 Coppa Italia win over Verona, the Argentine took the gloves for the last 16 minutes – in which he caught the eye.

“I made a great save,” he smiled to Inter Channel. “Initially Cristian Chivu said he would go in goal, but then the Coach asked me or Ricky Alvarez to go in.

“I had played in goal a few times as a kid, but luckily it was only for 15 minutes this time…

“We were leading 2-0 so we felt a bit comfortable, but it was important to win the match.”

Palacio will come up against his past at the weekend when the Nerazzurri take on Genoa, but he insists he wants the three points.

“It'll be a special game for me, but now I'm an Inter player,” he added. “It won't be an easy match for us.

“What do I want from 2013? To win the Scudetto.”
