Sampdoria sporting director Carlo Osti has revealed that former Inter defender Matias Silvestre is close to signing for the Blucerchiati.
Silvestre spent last season on loan at the Marassi outfit, making 29 appearances, and is now a free agent after his Nerazzurri contract expired.
Speaking to Samp TV, Osti stated that the Argentine centre back is a target as part of a rebuilding of the defence.
“We’re working to bring Silvestre back to Samp,” said Osti.

“He had a great time here with us and we hope to bring him back in the next few days.
“The squad needs to be completed, we’re missing something at the back and we’re working to sort out the defence.
“Our commitments begin early this year, while the market only closes on August 31. We need to balance these two aspects.”
