Romelu Lukaku had told Steven Zhang at the beginning of the season that Inter would play the Champions League Final as confirmed by the Nerazzurri President.
The Benamata have qualified for their first Champions League Final in 13 years after beating city rivals Milan 3-0 on aggregate in the semi-final.
The Nerazzurri will be the underdogs against either Real Madrid or Manchester City, but there was one Inter player who had predicted at the beginning of the season that the team would play in Istanbul on June 10.
“Every season is special, but if I had been told at the beginning of the season that we would play the Final, I would struggle to believe it,” Inter President Zhang told SportMediaset.
“Lukaku said it to me at the beginning of the season and I thought he was joking, but game after game, we started believing in it.”
The Belgian forward delivered the assist for Lautaro Martinez in a 1-0 win against Milan in the second-leg semi-final on Tuesday.
Zhang also spoke to Sky Sport Italia on Tuesday night, insisting that Simone Inzaghi will remain in charge next season and that Suning’s target is to ‘always improve’ the team.
Inter will face Real Madrid or Manchester City in the Champions League Final on June 10. The La Liga and Premier League giants meet at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night, one week after a 1-1 draw in the Spanish capital.
