Ligue 1 side Marseille are in talks with Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer, reports in Italy claim.

Bennacer is in talks with Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille over a potential loan deal from Milan.

Gazzetta, Sky Sport Italia and Calciomercato.com report that talks between the two parties are ongoing. If the Algeria international leaves San Siro before the deadline today, then the Rossoneri will make an attempt to sign Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer.

The Frenchman is without a club, so he can join any new team after the deadline. Milan and the midfielder’s mother, Veronique, are negotiating as we write, reports Sky Sport.

As for Bennacer, the Algeria international won’t move to the Saudi Pro League as the offers Milan received were not good enough for the Rossoneri.

Atletico Madrid had previously been linked, but Marseille are now leading the race for the ex-Empoli man.

Due to gastroenteritis, Bennacer hasn’t travelled to Rome for the upcoming Serie A game against Lazio.
