Olivera expresses happiness over links with Napoli

Getafe left back Mathias Olivera is overjoyed following links with a move to Napoli, although he’s suggested that they’re only ‘rumours’.

The Partenopei have been following the 24-year-old Uruguayan left back for some time now and believe that he’s the perfect player for Luciano Spalletti’s squad, possibly replacing Mario Rui in the starting lineup. The full back has scored one goal and provided one assist in 19 appearances this season for Getafe.

Olivera, currently at the Uruguayan national team’s training camp, spoke about these links with Sport 890, highlighting his happiness.

“I have received some news of interest from Napoli and these are things that I’m pleased about, but they remain rumours.”

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis wants to close out a deal for Olivera immediately to avoid losing out on the player in the summer transfer window. The idea is to reach an agreement with Getafe now before picking him up at the end of the season. First, however, they need to sell Faouzi Ghoulam, whose contract expires in June but who isn’t keen to leave this month.
