Stefano Okaka looks back over his favourite goals and explains he chose Udinese for ‘the project’ he could see taking shape here.
The 30-year-old striker answered questions from youth team players via Zoom in the club’s Smart Academy series.
“I scored many beautiful goals in my career, fortunately,” said Okaka. “I remember two in particular, both back-heel flicks: one during Roma-Siena in stoppages, the other for Watford against Everton.

“I scored many beautiful goals in my career, fortunately,” said Okaka. “I remember two in particular, both back-heel flicks: one during Roma-Siena in stoppages, the other for Watford against Everton.
“I also enjoyed the goal for Sampdoria against Torino, when I ran from midfield with the ball at my feet and just kept going.”
The centre-forward is under contract with Udinese until June 2022, returning to Italy after spells at RSC Anderlecht and Watford.
“I came to Udinese for the project and my objective is to stay here for a long time so that I can see that project through to the end. I’ve lost 7kg over the last two months thanks to working with the club nutritionist, even during lockdown.
“The advice I’d give to young players is that even talent needs hard work. Lionel Messi has to train and that means everyone does. You learn the fundamentals of the sport in the youth academy and learn the basics, which are more important than you know.”
