Udinese have confirmed the signing of Maxi Lopez from Torino – “he’s the missing piece of the puzzle”.
The Argentinian striker’s contract has been deposited with the Lega Serie A, and sporting director Manuel Gerolin commented on the deal to the Zebrette’s official website.
“I consider the Lopez deal to be the final piece of the puzzle,” Gerolin said.
“We’ve acquired an experienced player who can enhance the quality of the collective without limiting the chances for our many young players to show what they can do.
“Lopez comes with our utmost consideration and trust, his experience is a strategic element in the management of our youngsters, his determination to do well is something we’ll leverage in our favour.
“With Maxi Lopez we’re aiming to recover the dialogue we’ve missed in attack at the start of the season.”
Molla Wague and Orestis Karnezis have moved to Watford, also owned by the Pozzo family, while Cyril Thereau is joining Fiorentina.
“The sale of Thereau, which is still to be formalised after the completion of his medicals represents a considered and challenging decision.
“It derives from the fact that the team needs an out-and-out striker. We thank Cyril for the work he did with us, he’s looking forward to an exciting future in a stimulating new context.
“As for Wague and Karnezis, these are transactions carried out with the aim of giving value to the two players, by giving them the chance to show what they can do in the English league.”
