Official: Sottil is new Udinese coach

Udinese have officially announced Andrea Sottil is their new coach, a return to the club he had also represented as a player for four years.

The tactician has signed a one-year contract with an option for a second season at the Dacia Arena.

He replaces Gabriele Cioffi, who had been the assistant manager to previous coach Luca Gotti.

This will be the first Serie A job for 48-year-old Sottil as a coach, having taken Ascoli to the Serie B promotion play-offs this season.

His other clubs were Pescara, Catania, Livorno, Siracusa, Paganese, Cuneo and Guvvio.

This is a return to Udinese for Sottil, who played here as a defender from 1999 to 2003, where he made 115 competitive appearances, scoring seven goals and helping the club win the Intertoto Cup.

He is the father of current Fiorentina attacking winger Riccardo Sottil and amongst others also represented Torino, Fiorentina, Atalanta and Genoa as a defender.
