“Coming back to Trigoria is an incredible sensation and it has been my objective since I went to Sassuolo,” the 21-year-old midfielder told Roma TV after signing a contract to June 2022.
“It is the crowning moment of a two-year journey. I thank all of Roma and director Monchi, who has always been close to me. He made me realise they wanted to rebuild also with me.”
Monchi noted that Roma were “proud to have brought Pellegrini home. In these years Lorenzo has matured and picked up valuable experience at Sassuolo, so we are certain he’ll be able to contribute to the growth process of the squad.”
As for 23-year-old Ricci, he was on loan to Sassuolo in 2016-17 and has now been bought outright.
The fee has not yet been confirmed, nor whether Roma retained a buy-back option.
