Napoli and their President Aurelio De Laurentiis have confirmed the signing of Giovanni Simeone from Hellas Verona.
The Argentinean striker has joined the Partenopei on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy if Luciano Spalletti’s men qualify for the Champions League this season.
President Aurelio De Laurentiis and the club have confirmed the deal on Twitter, welcoming ‘El Cholito’ to the club.
Simeone will replace Dries Mertens, who left the Stadio Maradona at the end of his contract in June.
The ex-Fiorentina and Cagliari striker scored 17 goals in 35 Serie A games last season.
The Partenopei will soon welcome Giacomo Raspadori from Sassuolo and Tanguy Ndombele from Tottenham.
