Gennaro Gattuso has left Pisa, citing “serious, constant and unacceptable” problems at the club.
The former Milan midfielder was appointed as Coach of the Tuscan side last season, and guided them to promotion through the play-offs.
Despite that it was reported that Rino would not be around to lead the side in Serie B, and today it has been confirmed that he has resigned.

Despite that it was reported that Rino would not be around to lead the side in Serie B, and today it has been confirmed that he has resigned.
“As a result of new serious, constant and unacceptable club problems, which prevent a proper and serious employment status and because of the respect that I have always brought to the fans and the city of Pisa, I’m obliged to irrevocably resign as Coach of Pisa Calcio, along with my staff,” Gattuso said in a statement.
“I’ve just communicated my decision to the team, whose reaction touched me as well as reinforcing my belief that there’s no alternative.
“It’s a very painful choice, more so after the fresh and exciting experience of promotion to Serie B, but it’s an absolutely necessary one, primarily out of a sense of responsibility to the players themselves.
“I know that difficulties are part of the job, and I think I’ve shown – especially during last season, which was characterised by many obstacles – that I’m not afraid of obstacles and they certainly don’t discourage me.
“Here though it’s really crossed the line. There have been new problems and the newspapers have continued to assassinate me ever since the team began preparing for the League.
“Now the ambiguities with the club and its management have definitely crossed the line. I had hoped the situation could be overcome by hard work and dedication on the pitch.
“Unfortunately I was deluding myself, without organisation and planning it’s not possible to ask for serious, concrete and realistic objectives.
“In the current condition, the club will do nothing. To ignore this would be an irresponsible act, especially toward the fans who don’t deserve it.
“I have my word, unlike those who had promised the Pisa fans a commitment which they’ve been unable to maintain or didn’t want to keep.
“I therefore judged that it was my duty to distance myself from a management which doesn’t seem able to guarantee not just a future for the club, but even a present without unknown things outside of sport.
“I’ll always carry with me a wonderful memory of this experience, I don’t hesitate to classify it as the most exciting of my still-short career as a Coach and one of the best of my 20 years in football.
“My gratitude toward Pisa and the city of Pisa will never fade.”
