Empoli have officially announced the signing of Juventus veteran Mattia De Sciglio on a season-long loan deal, which brings the right-back’s seven year stay in Turin to an end.
Official: De Sciglio joins Empoli from Juventus
De Sciglio is into the final year of his contract with Juventus, but he is not part of Thiago Motta’s plans, and so was told to find a new club.
Roberto D’Aversa’s side have managed to secure De Sciglio’s services on loan, but he will become a free agent at the start of July, which means that Empoli will not have to pay Juve a fee if they wish to extend his stay beyond the 2024-25 campaign.
De Sciglio was Juventus’s longest-serving player who did not come through their academy before his Empoli move, having joined from Milan for around €12m back in 2017.
It has been a busy day of transfers for Empoli, who have also announced their purchase of 22-year-old Tino Anjorin from Chelsea on Thursday afternoon.
