Catania have formally signed Atletico Madrid and Spain Under-21 international winger Keko on a permanent basis.

The 19-year-old's full name is Sergio Gontan Gallardo and he put pen to paper on a three-year contract.

It was originally thought he would arrive on loan, but Atletico Madrid have made this a permanent sale for an undisclosed fee.

“Keko, who has worn the jerseys of Atletico Madrid, Real Valladolid, Cartagena and Girona, signed a three-year contract with Catania until June 30, 2014, with an option to extend for another two years.”

The winger won the Under-17 European Championship with Spain in 2008 and the silver medal of the Under-19 tournament in 2010.

“Keko is a player with a bright future ahead of him and he will certainly remain with us,” Catania general manager Pietro Lo Monaco told Itasportpress.

“We do not believe he needs to go out on loan to gain experience. We consider him to be a great transfer coup.”
