Parma President Kyle Krause announces that Gigi Buffon has extended with the Ducali and will continue playing until he’s 46.

The veteran goalkeeper returned to his ex-club in the summer after the end of his contract with Juventus. He had signed a two-year deal with the Gialloblu, but has now extended for one more season.

Parma President Krause confirmed at a press conference today that the 2006 Italy World Cup winner has signed a contract extension with the Serie B side until June 2024. Buffon has the most appearances in the history of Serie A (657 games) and has won ten Scudetti with Juventus.

The 44-year-old has played 23 Serie B games this term, conceding as many goals and keeping eight clean sheets.

The Ducali have been struggling this season collecting just 32 points in 26 matches. They sacked Enzo Maresca in November replacing him with ex-Fiorentina coach Beppe Iachini. Despite their poor results in 2021-22, Parma are still in the race for the Serie B play-offs.
