Italy confirm Nicolò Barella’s recovery is progressing well, but the Inter star will rejoin the group on the pitch in the coming days.

The FIGC released an official statement on injured Italy star Barella on Saturday afternoon.

Barella, 27, had undergone medical tests in the morning to check on a mild muscle injury that had forced him to the sidelines in an international friendly against Turkey on Tuesday.

“The footballer Nicolò Barella carried out diagnostic tests this morning that showed the expected progress in recovery from muscle fatigue suffered in recent days,” FIGC said in a statement.

“Therefore, the player will continue the work program, in view of being reintegrated into the group in the coming days.”

The FIGC statement doesn’t clarify whether Barella will be available or not for Italy’s Euro 2024 debut against Albania on June 15.

Earlier on Saturday, FIGC had confirmed Italy’s squad numbers for Euro 2024, announcing that Barella would be wearing the No.18 in Germany, while Lorenzo Pellegrini will be the No.10.

Barella, 27, is one of Italy’s key players at Euro 2024. In 48 appearances with Inter in 2023-24, he scored two goals and provided seven assists, winning the Serie A title for the second time in his career.

The Nerazzurri is a Euro 2020 winner with La Nazionale and has nine goals in 53 appearances with the national team.
