Juventus winger Nico Gonzalez is expected to stay on with the Argentina national team as scheduled, despite being subbed off with an injury five minutes into the second half of Friday’s 3-0 victory over Chile.
Nico Gonzalez staying on with Argentina after injury
The 26-year-old suffered a minor injury to his foot, with some reports suggesting the impacted area in his ankle, while others claim it is in his heel.
According to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, Nico is still a doubt for Tuesday night’s World Cup qualifier away against Colombia, but he is expected to remain with the team, and could still feature among the matchday squad.
Sunday’s update indicates the injury is not as serious as first feared, which will come as a boost for Thiago Motta, who has lost fellow winger and recent arrival Francisco Conceicao for a number of weeks.
Nico Gonzalex will travel back to Italy midway through next week and will return to Juventus training ahead of a Serie A clash against Empoli on Saturday, and the first Champions League fixture of the season against PSV the following Tuesday.
