Milan starlet M’Baye Niang reveals “Adriano Galliani made me understand I had to change” in order to become a regular.
Niang was signed in the summer and hit the headlines when he was kicked out of the France Under-21 team when he and a few teammates snuck out of their training camp to go partying in Paris.
“I am getting more starts, but I am not an automatic first choice pick. I have to work every day because Robinho is better than me and I must always earn my place,” the 18-year-old told the Corriere della Sera newspaper.
“In France the mentality is different to in Italy, as here you need more professional behaviour. I am asked to focus only on football and to be more careful in every aspect of my life.”
Niang continued his ‘bad boy’ reputation when he was caught driving without a licence.
“For example, in Italy they are very strict on diet, which is fundamental to avoid injuries. Galliani got angry with me after some incidents and he made me understand I had to change.
“Milan is my big chance and I cannot waste it all because of nightclubs, cars and other distractions. I need to make the most of this opportunity to become an important player for Milan.”
Niang is yet to score his first Serie A goal, but insists he's saving it for a special occasion. "Hopefully it'll arrive in the Milan Derby."
