Newcastle United set sights on Atalanta midfielder Ederson

Ederson has continued to shine for Atalanta since his arrival last year and his impressive work has attracted serious attention from Newcastle United, reports detail.

The Magpies have been left in a tough spot after their statement summer signing Sandro Tonali was handed a 10-month ban for betting on football matches, keeping him out of action until August next year.

With limited midfield options available to coach Eddie Howe, Newcastle are expected to find a replacement in the coming January transfer market.

As reported by TMW, Newcastle are interested in making a move for Ederson in January, but may be warded off by Atalanta’s €40m requests. The 24-year-old cost around €15m plus Matteo Lovato last year and is contracted to the club until June 2026.

La Dea are not particularly interested in losing the Brazilian midfielder in the middle of the season, so it may take a lucrative offer to lure him away from Bergamo.
