Amid continued links with Barcelona, Napoli have hinted recently of their desire to reach a permanent deal for Reina, which their sporting director has this week now confirmed.

“He is a very important player on and off the field,” Bigon has reflected on In Casa Napoli this week.

“We cannot do anything but wait for the end of the season to talk with him and with Liverpool. The club is interested in keeping him.

“He is a player who has been good here, that has a very close relationship with the Coach and also his family have settled very well.

“And there is Mariano Andujar, who is another good goalkeeper.

“And Rafael? His was a purchase that could represent our goalkeeper for the coming years.

“Together with the Coach, however, we thought that the presence of Reina was important for the Brazilian to better acclimatise.

“He is returning from treatment in Brazil now, we will see what will happen in the market. He is still a very good goalkeeper who has have a very good season.”
