Manolo Gabbiadini has proved he’s not a centre-forward, so Dries Mertens is currently being used as a False Nine.
If Gabbiadini is sold in January, that cash will be used to bring in a player more suited to Napoli’s needs.
Newcastle only signed Mitrovic from Anderlecht in the summer of 2015, paying €18.5m.
This season he has five goals in nine competitive games at club level, albeit in the Championship – England’s version of Serie B.
Last term his Premier League haul was nine goals and four assists in 34 matches.
