Napoli-Salernitana postponed, but kick-off time still unknown

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Napoli-Salernitana has been postponed to Sunday, but the kick-off time remains unknown and will be decided by Naples Chief Magistrate in the coming hours.

The Partenopei are close in on their third-sever Serie A title, which they’ll win over the weekend if they beat Salernitana at the Stadio Maradona and Lazio fail to win against Inter at San Siro. Napoli-Salernitana was originally scheduled for Saturday, April 29, at 14:00 UK time, with Inter-Lazio on Sunday, April 30 at 11:30.

Naples’ Mayor and the club had requested to move the match against Salernitana to Sunday for public security reasons and CASMS, the Committee for Security of Sporting Events, has now decided that the game will be played on Sunday, reports Corriere dello Sport, which claims the decision is ‘official.’

However, the kick-off time remains uncertain and will be established by Naples’ Chief Magistrate.

According to Repubblica, Napoli-Salernitana could be played on Sunday at 16:00 UK time, while Il Mattino and Sky Sport claim the kick-off will be at 14:00. In both cases, the Partenopei will already know the result of Inter-Lazio and so if they can win their first Serie A title in 33 years with a victory in the Derby della Campania.

Lega Serie A President Lorenzo Casini said on Wednesday that he would only accept the game’s postponement for public security reasons.
