“There is a club that intends to sign the player,” agent Vinicius Prates told Radio Gaucha. “The interest exists.”
Although he did not specifically name Napoli, it is reported the Partenopei are the front-runners for the 23-year-old.
The Brazilian international has long been linked with Napoli, Inter and Spurs, while Southampton are late to the bidding war.
Damiao’s price-tag is reportedly €20m, but Prates insisted that “value is a lie.”
The San Paolo side and Coach Rafa Benitez would have cash for the deal if they accept PSG’s offer for Edinson Cavani.
