Napoli have substantial bid for defender Kilman rejected by Wolves – report

Napoli have had a substantial bid for English centre-back Max Kilman rejected by Wolves according to reports from David Ornstein in the Athletic on Sunday evening.

The Partenopei are in the market for a new centre-back, preferably one who can play on the left-hand side after bidding farewell to the Scudetto winning Kim Min-jae, who is set to join Bayern Munich in the coming days.

As per Ornstein’s report in the Athletic, Napoli turned to the Premier League to look for the heir to Kim’s throne, landing on Kilman, who has made 107 first team appearances since joining from Maidenhead in 2018.

Napoli’s offer was reported to be set at €35m, which has since been rejected.

It is believed that Wolves, who will also likely sell fellow centre-back Nathan Collins to Brentford this summer, will not let Kilman go for anything under €40m.

Kilman is currently tied to Wolves by a contract which lasts until the summer of 2026, with the club also retaining the option to extend that deal by a further year.

Both Wolves and Kilman are said to be under no pressure to accept Napoli’s proposal for the time being.
